🚀 Taking Flight

🍦 Whit’s Frozen Custard is Now Open

Whit’s Frozen Custard has officially opened in the Village of Providence, bringing rich, creamy frozen treats to Huntsville. Their flavors include classic vanilla and chocolate, plus two new specialty flavors each week. In March, you can try Mint Chocolate Chip, Lemon Blueberry, and Butter Pecan.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! Customize your treat with various mix-ins, including real fruit, candies, nuts, and syrups. Open daily from noon to 9 PM.

🚧 Monroe Street is Getting a Makeover

Big changes are coming to Monroe Street! Huntsville has hired Miller & Miller, Inc. to improve the road between Williams and Clinton avenues. The project will add new sidewalks, streetlights, trees, and fresh pavement.

This upgrade will make the area look better and be easier to walk around, especially with the new Trilogy Hotel and updates to the Von Braun Center.

“These improvements will make Monroe Street more welcoming for everyone,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. The city will also add two special crosswalks—one by the new parking deck and another near Big Spring Park.

🐶 Free Pit Bull Adoptions For St. Pitty’s Week

Looking for a loyal and loving companion? Huntsville Animal Services is hosting St. Pitty’s Week, offering free adoptions for all pit bulls and pit mixes.

Pit bulls are often overlooked in shelters in favor of smaller breads. To help them find forever homes, the shelter is waiving adoption fees for one week. Every adopted dog will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Visit Huntsville Animal Services during the event to meet adoptable dogs marked with a lucky shamrock. You can find a list of adoptable dogs here.

🌳 New Arboretum for John Hunt Park

John Hunt Park is getting a new arboretum thanks to a $50,000 donation from the Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville! This special 3-acre park will have over 100 kinds of native trees, plus walking paths, picnic areas, and public art.

Visitors can scan QR codes to learn about each tree. The park will also feature gardens, dry creek beds, and two historic dogwood trees from the old airport.

A completion date has not been announced, but you can find a layout of the arboretum here.
