🚧 The New $50 Million Lewter District

This week, the City of Huntsville broke ground on the new Lewter District in Downtown Huntsville. The $50 million project aims to transform 1.5 acres at the historic site of Lewter Hardware.

The project will take place in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Build 14 luxury townhomes on Washington Street, called the Lewter District Townhomes.

  • Phase 2: Restoration and renovation of the Lewter Hardware Building. It will be home to a new restaurant called Brick & Tin.

  • Phase 3: Build a five-story, 75,000-sq-ft office building with 4,500 sq-ft of retail on the ground floor.

The city expects to complete the project by mid to late 2025.

🦃 A City-Wide Thanksgiving Meal

On Monday, the Village of Promise will host a free city-wide Thanksgiving meal from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM in Big Spring Park.

One Table is an annual event that is designed to unite people from all walks of life and give thanks together.

🛒 Clift Farm Costco Is Open

Madison’s new $20 million Costco store is now open at Clift Farm. It’s located at 8094 Hwy 72 W, Madison, AL 35758, off Highway 72, across from Target. This is the second Costco in the Huntsville area.

🎄 Deck the Districts Contest

The City of Huntsville wants homeowners to get festive this holiday season with a friendly contest. The Deck the Districts competition is essentially a massive Christmas decorating contest across all five districts.

If you think you have the best Christmas lights, you can submit photos to be judged the week of December 9.

The winners will be announced at the City Council meeting on December 19. They will receive a prize, a festive yard sign, and bragging rights.

🍔 Whataburger Coming to Ownes Cross Roads

A new Whataburger is coming to the corner of 431 and Wade Road, according to Rocket City Connect. This will be the fifth location in the Huntsville/Madison area. A timeline for construction and opening has not been announced.
