April is officially in the books, and May has arrived!

Now that the weather has warmed up, TONS of fun things are happening this month. I just sent our Premium Explorers a list of 35+ fun things to do this May. Here are a few of my favorites:

🛍 Lendon Corner Shopping Center Coming 2026

A new shopping center called Lendon Corner is coming to Jones Valley in Spring 2026. Located at 2600 Carl T. Jones Drive, the new center will have four retail spaces and plenty of parking.

Sweet Pineapple, a popular local gift shop known for home goods, baby gifts, candles, jewelry, and more, will be the main anchor. The shop will move from its current location on Airport Road when Lendon Corner opens next year.

Developers say Lendon Corner will have thoughtful design and a great mix of businesses. The development will be home to Sweet Pineapple and three additional spaces, perfect for boutiques, restaurants, or specialty shops.

When we find out what businesses are going into the other three locations, we will let you know!

🎭 A Broadway Legend Arrives This May

Broadway Theatre League is bringing one of the world’s most popular musicals to Huntsville this spring. Les Misérables will take the stage at the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall from May 6–11.

This powerful production has inspired more than 130 million people around the world with its unforgettable story of love, sacrifice, and redemption.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables features beloved songs like I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, and One Day More — performed live in a breathtaking production.

🚀 Taking Flight

🥪 Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop Is Now Open

Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop has officially opened its doors in Huntsville’s Medical District! Located at 2003 Whitesburg Drive, Capriotti's is known for its award-winning sandwiches.

Its most popular sandwich is called “The Bobbie" and is packed with turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Not your normal sandwich. But it’s got to be award-winning for a reason, right?

Other popular sandwiches include pastrami sandwiches, Wagyu beef subs, and vegetarian options. Subs come in sizes from 5 to 18 inches, making them perfect for a quick lunch or sharing with friends.

The shop is open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM. You can find the menu here before you swing by.

🍓 Grain and Berry Grand Opening

Grain and Berry is opening in Jones Valley this Saturday at 2750 Carl T. Jones Drive. The doors open at 9 AM, and the first 100 customers will receive a free Superfood Bowl!

This popular chain serves up vibrant açaí bowls, almond milk smoothies, fresh-squeezed juices, and more. They also have flatbreads and quesadillas if you need something a little more filling.

🎡 Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair Returns This May

The Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair is returning to Toyota Field for its sixth year, May 15 through 25.

Expect classic rides like rollercoasters and the tilt-a-whirl, plus carnival games and sweet treats. Admission is $10, and the rides will cost extra.

If you’d like to save a few bucks, there are a couple of special dates you’ll want to put on your calendar. Students get in free on May 20, armbands are BOGO free on May 21, and you can save $5 on admission on May 22.
