Food City Has Broken Ground on Governors Drive

Last year, Food City announced that it would be bringing six stores to the Huntsville/Madison area.

Earlier this week, it began construction on its second Huntsville store, just off Governors Drive between Stovehouse and The Foundry. The store is expected to open in early 2025.

This isn’t the only Food City that’s underway in Huntsville. A location in Hampton Cove began construction in July 2023, and another location is set to break ground soon off of Highway 72 East.

But wait, there’s more. After these three initial locations are underway, Food City will begin construction on three more locations near Downtown Huntsville, County Line Road, and AL-53.

Lucky Dice Cafe is a beloved spot for board and card game enthusiasts. Earlier this week, the owner announced on Facebook that he would be closing its doors. Below is a partial statement from the owner. You can read the full statement here.

“The decision to close also comes with a heavy heart. Since the passing of my beloved wife, navigating this journey alone has been challenging. I am immensely grateful for the love and support you’ve all shown me during this time. Your patronage, kind words, and unwavering loyalty have meant the world to me.”
