One of my favorite parts of summer

One of my favorite events has started back!

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has had a good week. I haven’t done anything worth sharing this week, but it has been a nice week of rest!

A few of you replied to last week’s email and told me that you liked the new format, so I’m going to stick with it for now.

Let’s get into it!

This Email is Sponsored By Nutty Scientists

Summer is just around the corner, and your kids are going to need a way to stay entertained while school is out.

Enter Nutty Scientist of Rocket City.

They’re hosting three science-themed summer camps and are experts in teaching kids about science while also keeping them entertained.

Camps will be held throughout the summer at West Madison Elementary School, and spots are limited!

Availability is filling up fast, so be sure to sign up today!

Stoner Park Is Getting a New Skating Rink

The Huntsville Planning Commission has approved a new skating rink at Stoner Park in North Huntsville.

The new skating rink will be housed in a metal, open-air pavilion that was previously home to one of the park’s tennis courts.

Alabama A&M Is Trying To Buy The Birmingham Southern Campus

If you haven’t heard, Birmingham Southern is set to close its doors at the end of May due to some major financial distress.

Once the doors close, the campus will be sold, and it’s being reported that Alabama A&M is in discussions with officials about purchasing the campus to expand its reach in the state.

Huntsville Animal Services Waiving Adoption Fees

Starting today, Huntsville Animal Services will waive adoption fees for most shelter pets due to an abundance of animals.

Fees will be waived from May 3-11 for most cats and dogs. All pets are already spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your home, this could be the perfect opportunity!

Greene Street Market Is Back For Its 14th Season

Yesterday, the Greene Street Market kicked off its 14th season.

If you’ve never been, the market is full of local vendors selling produce, honey, baked goods, soaps, crafts, and more. Oh, and there is usually live music, too.

The market is held every Thursday from May to October at the corner of Eustis Avenue and Greene Street in Downtown Huntsville.

It’s a great market and is a lot of fun for the whole family.

PorchFest Is This Saturday

If you enjoy live music and want to support local artists, then you’ll love PorchFest.

There are multiple concerts from local musicians held on various porches throughout Five Points.

It’s a one-day event that will kick off at 4 PM on Saturday, May 4. Here is a full schedule for all the performances.

Zach Williams Is Playing at the VBC This Sunday

For all the country music fans reading Huntsville Explorer, Zach Williams will be playing at the VBC this Sunday (May 5) as part of his A Hundred Highways Tour.

The show is pretty much sold out, but there are a handful of tickets available at the time of writing.

*This is an affiliate link, and Huntsville Explorer may receive a portion of any tickets purchased through our link. Thanks for supporting us!

That’s a wrap for this week’s newsletter!

I hope everyone is enjoying the new format. I’m always striving to make this email more valuable, so if you have an idea of how I could improve it, hit reply and let me know!
