🌿 Monte Sano’s New Tollgate Greenway
A brand-new greenway is coming to Monte Sano, thanks to a $500,000 community fundraiser and a matching $500,000 from the City of Huntsville.
Here’s what you need to know:
Trail Connection: The Tollgate Greenway will link the Bankhead Trailhead to Old Bankhead Parkway, spanning about 1.2 miles.
Accessibility: It will give walkers, hikers, and individuals with limited mobility greater access to nature.
Bike Path: A dedicated bike path will offer a scenic route for cyclists!
Currently, there is no set opening date, but we’ll keep you updated!

🎄 Under the Christmas Tree Market
One of Huntsville’s biggest holiday markets will be held November 1-3 at the VBC. Randolph’s Under the Christmas Tree fundraiser will have over 120 vendors offering unique gifts, raffles, and more.
Admission starts at $10 for adults and $5 for seniors 65+. Tickets can be purchased here.
This is the 40th year of the market, and all proceeds will go toward Randolph’s Tailored Tuition program.
🗑️ Sanitation Rates to Increase in 2025
Huntsville’s sanitation rates will increase on January 1, 2025, following City Council’s unanimous approval.
This marks only the second rate increase since 1999, aiming to cover the costs of weekly garbage and yard debris collection for over 70,000 households.
Residential rates will rise from $16.50 to $21.50 per month, with further increases scheduled for 2027 and 2029. Rates for low-income residents will remain lower, while commercial and bulk waste rates will also see adjustments.
