After passing away unexpectedly in February, The Alabama Music Hall of Fame in Tuscumbia is set to open a permanent exhibit honoring Dave Gallaher this Saturday.

The Huntsville blues legend passed away unexpectedly this February at the age of 80.

Gallaher spent decades performing across the region with Microwave Dave & the Nukes, touring nationally and internationally. When he wasn’t performing, he quietly built a second career as a music educator through the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, which still puts musicians in local classrooms today.

The exhibit will feature personal memorabilia including his signature overalls, instruments, and other items from across his full musical journey. The opening ceremony will be held Saturday, July 18 at 12 PM.

Between a "Microwave Dave Day" declared in 2015, a March tribute concert at Mars Music Hall, a stretch of Cleveland Avenue renamed "Microwave Dave Way" in April, and now this exhibit, his story keeps finding new places to live on.

The Rocket City Space Fest is underway, with tons of space-themed activities happening across town. But the biggest celebration is planned for this Monday, July 20 at Big Spring Park!

Dubbed Apollo Day, head to Big Spring for a lunar-landing-themed Concert in the Park!

After, 600 drones will take the sky and tell the story of Apollo, from lift-off to the Moon landing to splashdown. It’s set to be Alabama’s largest drone show to date!

It’s Corn! One of Alabama’s oldest farmer’s markets is hosting its Annual Corn Festival this Saturday, July 18 from 10 AM to 2 PM!

The Madison County Farmer’s Market, located at 1022 Cook Avenue, will be giving out free roasted corn courtesy of The People’s Patch Community Farm!

There will also be plenty of local vendors, live music, food trucks, and a corny coloring corner for children!

Looking for a way to give back to the local community? Huntsville is hosting the 2026 Para-Cycling Road World Championship and needs to fill 921 volunteer shifts!

The race will take place over Labor Day weekend and will serve as a qualifier for the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles!

There are tons of different opportunities available, some race-related and other with the race itself.
