It looks like the cold weather is here to stay for a while, so make sure you bundle up!

After a few people asked, I’ve decided to bring back the Huntsville Explorer Bingo Night! It’s scheduled for February 23 at Back Forty and I’ll share more about tickets soon. But go ahead and mark your calendar!

🍦 A New Sweet Stop is Coming to Lowe Mill

A new ice cream parlor is coming to Lowe Mill, with Fizzy Flapper set to open on the second floor in Studio 2060.

The retro-inspired shop will serve classic ice cream treats like floats, splits, and fresh cones, bringing old-school soda shop vibes to the historic mill. While an opening date hasn’t been announced yet, Fizzy Flapper comes from the team behind Dragon’s Forge Cafe.

Once open, it’ll give visitors a sweet stop while exploring Lowe Mill and its many studios. Follow them on Instagram for more updates!

📚️ City Annexes 648 Acres for City Schools

Huntsville has approved the annexation of more than 648 acres in Limestone County near I-565 and Swancott Road.

About 100 acres will be set aside for Huntsville City Schools to build a new P–8 school, with room to expand as enrollment grows. The annexation was requested by GL McCrary Farms, and the McCrary family will be donating the 100 acres to Huntsville City Schools.

The remaining land will support new residential development, helping ensure schools, homes, and infrastructure grow together as Huntsville continues to welcome new families.

🏈 College Football Is Coming to Joe Davis Stadium

A Division I college football game is coming to Joe Davis Stadium for the first time ever.

On August 29, University of North Alabama will face Samford in a neutral-site, in-state matchup on Wicks Family Field. Tickets will go on sale in February and there will be several fan-friendly experiences planned inside and outside the stadium!

The game adds another major sporting event to Huntsville’s growing calendar and reflects years of planning to host more diverse athletics!
