Crowds filled the Space and Rocket Center this week and joined viewers around the world as NASA successfully launched Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the Moon in more than 50 years.

The excitement reflects Huntsville’s deep connection to the mission, as the powerful Space Launch System rocket was designed and managed at Marshall Space Flight Center.

Often called the most powerful rocket ever built, the SLS is the result of the work of generations of Huntsville engineers. Artemis II is a critical test for future missions, and brings us one step closer to setting foot on the moon once again.

The Artemis missions are yet another reminder of how Huntsville’s best and brightest continue to make history everyday!

Easter weekend is shaping up to be a busy one across Huntsville, with egg hunts popping up all over the area for all ages.

There’s plenty of events for the kiddos, like The EGGstravaganza at John Hunt Park or the Monte Sano egg hunt. The adults are even getting in on the fun this year, with an adults-only hunt happening at The Camp.

Spring is in full bloom at the Huntsville Botanical Garden as its annual plant sale returns April 9-12, with a wide selection of greenery for gardeners of all experience levels.

Shoppers can browse everything from annuals and perennials to trees, herbs, and locally suited plants, including varieties cultivated directly from the Garden’s collections.

A special members-only preview kicks things off on April 9, before the public sale opens for the weekend. This is a free event, and experts will also be on hand to offer advice!

A major shift in local healthcare is underway as Crestwood Medical Center has officially become part of the Huntsville Hospital Health System.

Leaders say the move will help strengthen care and boost growth across North Alabama. The transition includes clinics, outpatient services, and emergency care, with early plans focused on upgrading technology, expanding capacity, and improving staffing.

While Crestwood will continue operating under its current name, officials say the partnership will enhance coordination between hospitals and expand access to critical services as the region continues to grow.

For those interested in learning more, Huntsville Hospital CEO Jeff Samz will speak in front of the City Council on April 23 to answer questions about the merger.
