A new 1.2-mile paved greenway is set to open on Monte Sano later this month, offering a scenic and accessible route for walkers and cyclists.

The Tollgate Greenway begins at the Bankhead Trailhead and follows part of the historic Toll Gate Road, connecting to Bankhead Parkway along the mountain’s western slope. Designed for both recreation and accessibility, it provides a safer way to enjoy the outdoors, especially for those who may not be able to navigate traditional dirt trails.

Years in the making, the project was a collaborative effort between the Land Trust of North Alabama, the City of Huntsville, and local partners.

The official opening celebration will take place April 27 at 2 PM at the Bankhead Trailhead, with remarks from local leaders and light refreshments.

With a free Recreational Badge, the public can enjoy the golf and disc golf courses, bowling center, parks, cycling routes, sports fields, and more.

To get your free badge, stop by the Visitor Control Center at Gate 9 at 4122 Rideout Road. The process is free and open to families, with kids 16 and under allowed to enter when accompanied by a badged parent in the same vehicle.

A new entertainment destination is sliding its way into Madison.

Slick City Action Park is gearing up to open, featuring massive slides, climbing walls, and obstacle courses designed for all ages. The fully indoor action park aims to always keep the fun going, rain or shine.

No word on the opening date yet, but it’ll be located on the corner of Plaza Boulevard and Coefer Boulevard, near Phaze 3.

One of Huntsville’s favorite spring traditions is making its return this weekend, as organizers get ready for Earth Day at Hays Nature Preserve.

The free event is happening this Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM. The event offers families the chance to enjoy hands-on activities, wildlife demonstrations, and interactive exhibits from local environmental groups.

Guests can meet animals from the Rise Raptor Project, explore a petting zoo, pick up free plants, and enjoy crafts, games, and treats while supplies last!

A well-known Southern steakhouse is making its Alabama debut in Town Madison.

The Chop House is opening up in June! Founded in 1992, the restaurant has built a reputation across the Southeast for its high-quality steaks and welcoming atmosphere.

The menu will feature all the premium cuts you expect, along with all your favorite steakhouse sides and seafood options! No opening date yet, but you can check out the menu here.
