🚀 Taking Flight

🌽 Madison County Corn Festival

The Madison County Farmers Market is hosting a free Corn Festival this Saturday, July 26, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Guests can enjoy freshly roasted local corn, live music, food trucks, and family-friendly activities like a “corny” coloring corner.

The event, held in partnership with The People’s Patch community farm, is all about celebrating and supporting local agriculture. The market is located right off the Parkway on Cook Avenue (1022 Cook Avenue) and has been a staple in the community for over 200 years.

🍽️ Taste of Huntsville Returns This Fall

After a 5-years hiatus, Taste of Huntsville is back with a fresh, outdoor twist on October 2 at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.

Guests will stroll scenic trails while enjoying unlimited tastings from top local restaurants, caterers, and beverage vendors. The evening will feature live acoustic music, signature cocktails, and a judged culinary competition.

Tickets go on sale later today at 10 AM for $75, with an optional $25 upgrade for exclusive bourbon and wine pairings. Proceeds benefit the HMCHA Scholarship Fund.

🛤️ South Huntsville Bridge Collapse

Plans to upgrade a section of railroad in South Huntsville are now uncertain after a bridge buckled beneath a train Tuesday morning, sending two rail cars plunging into Aldridge Creek.

Fortunately, there were no injuries and no hazardous materials were released into the water. The aging trestle was already slated for replacement with help from a $1 million federal grant awarded in 2024.

However, the extent of the collapse raises questions about whether that funding will still cover the full cost. Crews must finish clearing the site before any new construction can move forward.
