🎒 Madison City Breaks Ground on New Elementary School
Madison City leaders gathered for the groundbreaking of a new elementary school earlier this week. The yet-to-be-named school plans to open for the 2026-2027 school year and alleviate overcrowding in the district.
Madison City Schools (MCS) recently surpassed 13,000 students and aims to ensure that each student receives the individual attention they deserve.
Dr. Nichols, MCS Superintendent, praised the vision of past leaders who helped MCS establish itself as a separate district in 1998.
He emphasized the new school as a reflection of MCS’s commitment to excellence, calling it a “cornerstone of the community” where students can thrive.
The new building will be located at 200 Madison Branch Blvd and will be the 15th campus in the district.

🍯 Tupelo Honey Is Open For Business
MidCity got a little sweeter this week when Tupelo Honey officially opened its doors. The North Carolina-based restaurant serves scratch-made Southern food for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
The new restaurant is located at 900 Mid City Drive and is open Monday - Friday from 9 AM to 11 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
Be sure to stop by and show them some support! And if you’re like my wife, you’ll probably want to check out the menu before you go.
❤️ From Alabama, With Love
Stovehouse is hosting a benefit concert this weekend for our friends in North Carolina who were impacted by the hurricane.
The show starts at 6 PM, and there will be performances from Walker Street Opry, Grasstronauts, Jim Holland and Guests, and Milltowne.
🚲 Tweed Ride Social Cycle
The Huntsville Tweed Ride is back for another year this Saturday. If you’re like me, you’re probably asking yourself, what is a Tweed Ride?
It’s a social cycling event encouraging participants to dress in their best vintage-inspired clothing for a bike ride through town. This year’s ride will be about 7 miles long and will have multiple stops for stories from local historians.
The ride starts at 10:30 from Turbo Coffee and will end around 2 PM at L’Etoile Patisserie. It’s free to attend, and bikes will be available to rent, but you need to register ahead of time.
đź›’ Hampton Cove Food City Is Open
The first of six Huntsville Food City’s is officially open in Hampton Cove at the corner of 431 and Hampton Cove. The six new locations will create 1,350 jobs over the next five years.
If you haven’t already, be sure to swing by and check it out.
🗳️ Madison Mayor Paul Finley Will Not Seek Re-Election
After three terms, Madison Mayor Paul Finley announced that he would not seek re-election in 2025. Finley said that being the mayor was the highlight of his professional career and that he wants more time to focus on his family.
The next election will be held on August 25, 2025. Until then, Mayor Finley shared that he plans to “run to the finish line” and continue to serve the City of Madison.
