🪦 Huntsville's New App Finds Veterans' Grave

Huntsville's GIS Department created an app to help you find veterans' graves at Maple Hill Cemetery. You can use the app to see graves from different wars, starting with the Revolutionary War. You can also sort the graves by the wars the veterans fought in, from the Revolutionary War and beyond.

The app will be used to help plan events to remember veterans and will expand to other cemeteries, too. Families are encouraged to add more information to the app. Here’s a link to use the map.

🛣️ New Overhead Signs Coming to I-565

Dynamic message signs (DMS) are being installed on I-565 this week. The new signs are part of a $5.2 million project to improve real-time travel information.

The signs are set to be operational by year's end. They will be located at three points:

  • Westbound between County Line Road and Greenbrier Road

  • Eastbound between Jordan Lane and Memorial Parkway

  • Westbound near Jordan Lane

These upgrades will help motorists with updates on traffic, crashes, and construction.

🏗️ City Hall Demolition Begins

The Huntsville City Council has approved a $1,243,000 contract to demolish the old City Hall building. The demolition will take place over 240 days and will not impact nearby holiday events. The project paves the way for the future Big Spring Park East Expansion.

New Starbucks Coming to Bridge Street

A new Starbucks is coming to Bridge Street. The new store will be next to Urban Cookhouse and is expected to open next year. In the meantime, you can grab a coffee from the Starbucks at Barnes and Noble.
