As we close out the year, I’m so excited about the future of Huntsville Explorer. My goal is to make this the biggest and best newsletter in the city, and I think we are well on our way.

Based on the popular board game, Clue will bring laughs and mystery to the stage from January 3 to 5. Join the fun at the Von Braun Center as characters race to solve the crime in this hilarious show. See showtimes.
🏒 Huntsville Havoc Home Games
Catch some hockey action with the Huntsville Havoc, as they have six home games in January! There are some fun promotional nights like Glow Nights, HuntsVegas Night, Meet Bluey, and more! See schedule.
🎻 From the New World Concert
Join the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra for an unforgettable evening of music with From the New World on January 11. Experience this beautiful concert at the Von Braun Center and enjoy a blend of classical pieces. Get tickets.
🧙 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert

🥓 First Watch Opening in January
Huntsville’s First Watch is officially opening on Monday, January 13. It’s located on the corner of Whitesburg and Airport (5000 Whitesburg Dr. SW, Huntsville, AL 35802).
The restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Favorites include avocado toast, lemon ricotta pancakes, and million-dollar bacon.
If you’ve never been to one, the bacon is cooked with brown sugar, black pepper, and maple syrup for a sweet and salty taste. The full menu is available here.
🏈 Alabama A&M Appoints New Head Football Coach
Alabama A&M has a new head football coach! Sam Shade was introduced on Sunday as the 22nd coach in program history.
Shade led Miles College to a conference title in 2024 and coached Pinson Valley High to a state championship in 2020. He played in the NFL and was part of Alabama’s 1992 national title team.
🚗 2025 Road Resurfacing Projects Approved
The City of Huntsville approved Phase 1 of its 2025 road resurfacing plan.
Grayson Carter & Son Contracting won the $5.1 million bid for Phase 1. They will work on 22 projects, including upgrading 17 residential streets.
The city has budgeted over $20 million for resurfacing projects in 2025. The full list of roads being resurfaced in Phase 1 can be found here.
📜 It’s Time to Renew Your Business License
It’s time to renew your Huntsville business license for 2025!
Renewals start January 2 and are due by January 31. You can renew online through the City’s portal or in person at City Hall (305 Fountain Circle).
